Founded in 1956, Chongqing Three Gorges University is located at Wanzhou ,a thousand-year-old city in Chongqing municipality. It is the only comprehensive technology university in the hinterland of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. It has formed a  professional discipline system with engineering, literature and management as the main disciplines together with science, agriculture, economics, pedagogy, law, art and other disciplines. 

The school covers an area of 3,039 mu, with a construction area of 7264,400 square meters, a total value of 289 million yuan in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment and a collection of 1.963 million paper books and 1,782,500 e-books. We have built a complete modern e-book system and information network service system.

The school currently has 18 second-level colleges with more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate of which includes 1,227 master students. There are 62 undergraduate majors, 5 master-degree majors and 8 professional master-degree  majors and  7 municipal key disciplines at the 14th Five-Year Plan of Chongqing Higher Education.

The school currently has 1,412 staffs including 1,071 full-time teachers, among which 427 are professors or vice professors, and 219 have doctoral degrees.

The school has actively carried out international exchanges and cooperation. It has established joint schools, exchange of teachers, visiting scholars and academic exchanges with many foreign universities, companies and research institutions,

 such as universities in the United States and the United Kingdom, the Indonesian International Daily.

It has established strategic cooperation relations with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other local governments, and with ZTE, Zhongke Shuguang, Ruijie and other enterprises (services) units in talent training, professional construction, internship practice, innovation and entrepreneurship.
